Brimming with people and high-profile design, more than 50,000 industry professionals ascended upon the Merchandise Mart to view the latest and greatest from the design industry’s top manufacturers at the 51st Edition of NeoCon. With a newly renovated showroom and a highly anticipated Fall collection preview, Brentano celebrated their best NeoCon to date!   Brentano’s upcoming Clearwater collection captured the attention of judges from both Metropolis and Interior Design, taking home the award for #MetropolisLikes and a distinguished honoree for Interior Design’s HiP Award. Rejuvenating, captivating and wondrous, the Clearwater collection is an entrancing display of nature’s beauty, artfully translated into stunning fabrics, through the vision of Founder and Design Director Iris Wang.  Fascinated by the movement of water, Iris began creating her own studies of water’s behaviour and place in nature; Capturing these images on canvas while traveling led Iris to design many of the serene and beautiful textiles in the collection. Clerkenwell Design Week – A Visitors Review

Clerkenwell Design Week event held 21st-23rd May 2019 This year I ventured to the Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW19) event, a hub for creatives, architects and designers within Islington, London. Armed with a good pair of shoes and a map of the festival I was ready to experience the installations, talks and creative suppliers that bring an area into the spotlight on this already established London design hub. What makes this festival a successful event each year? Well its a case of its ‘in the blood and bricks’ of the Clerkenwell area itself. With a history of attracting skilled craftspeople and artisans dating back from the Industrial Revolution. The current Clerkenwell district is now home to over 100 world-renowned design brands and their showrooms, sitting beside 200 architectural practices. The event itself attracted 34,185* visitors from over 66 countries and these tend to be architects or designers looking for inspiration and sourcing opportunities. For me, it was a chance to look at the latest trends and products that would be featuring within future projects and designs …

Maison&Objet Looks to the United States for Its Next Rising Talents

MAISON&OBJET, the international trade fair for design, decoration and lifestyle, held every September and January in Paris, will shine a spotlight on the United States by honouring up-and-coming American designers with its Rising Talent Awards. An exhibition of products by this group will be a highlight of the next edition of the fair, which is scheduled for Sept. 6-10, 2019. Introduced in 1995, the Rising Talent Awards celebrate emerging designers from different parts of the world, who are selected by a local jury of renowned industry leaders. The most recent program, in January, honoured six Chinese designers representing a new generation of creative excellence. The work of the honourees was prominently displayed at MAISON&OBJET in the exhibition centre at Paris Nord Villepinte, and the young designers were feted at a celebration attended by design luminaries, dignitaries and the international press. Previous editions of the fair have focused on Rising Talents from the United Kingdom, Italy and Lebanon. Like their predecessors, the U.S. Rising Talents will have an unparalleled opportunity to meet and share their ideas …

This week, Morgan, contract furniture designer and manufacturer, welcomed artists, interior designers, visionaries and other creative minds to a special viewing of a new art installation by David Shillinglaw at their Clerkenwell showroom. Zaha Hadid Gallery: Pop-up Exhibition, New York City Nov – Dec 2018, 514 West 28th Street, NYC.

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) redefined architecture for the 21st century with a repertoire of projects that have captured imaginations across the globe. Form and space are woven within the structure of buildings that evolve from their surroundings and tie disparate programs together. Enticingly contextual, each project combines an unwavering optimism for the future with concepts of connectivity and integration. Receiving the highest honours from civic, professional and academic institutions worldwide, ZHA is one of the world’s most consistently inventive architectural studios—and has been for four decades. These 40 years of research are inscribed within every design. Marrying innovative digital design methods with ecologically sound materials and sustainable construction practices, ZHA does not look at the disparate parts, but works to understand them as a whole to build the aspirations of a new generation. Zaha Hadid explored formal concepts at all scales: from city masterplans and skyscrapers to furniture pieces, product designs and jewellery. Collaborating with the world’s most renowned furniture-makers and fashion houses, she established Zaha Hadid Design in 2006; each piece inspired by ZHA’s …
